Earth Day Every Day: How Morbern Is Driving Sustainable Innovation

At Morbern, sustainability isn’t a buzzword—it’s a way of life. As Earth Day approaches, we’re proud to spotlight the intentional, long-term steps we’re taking to create more sustainable, eco-conscious products for the industries we serve.

A Legacy of Environmental Leadership

From eliminating heavy metals decades ago to ensuring that our wastewater is clean enough to drink, Morbern has long prioritized environmental responsibility. We were one of the first manufacturers of coated fabrics to take a stand on clean manufacturing practices—and we haven’t stopped since.

Today, our sustainability efforts continue under the MorGreen initiative, a company-wide movement focused on reducing environmental impact, using renewable resources, and creating high-performance vinyls with fewer additives and a smaller footprint.

Sustainable Products with Real Impact

Through reformulation, we’ve reimagined many of our core vinyl offerings for the contract, healthcare, and hospitality markets—replacing harmful ingredients with bio-based, renewable components.

Our MorGreen™ products are:

  • Non-toxic
  • Heavy-metal free
  • BPA free
  • RoHS & REACH compliant
  • Flame retardant-free (including AB2998 compliant lines for California)

And just because they’re greener, doesn’t mean they compromise on performance. In fact, these products continue to meet or exceed flame resistance tests like CA TB 117-2013 and NFPA 260.

Introducing EvoHide: A New Chapter in Coated Fabric Sustainability

One of our proudest achievements is EvoHide, a next-generation upholstery fabric made with up to 81% sustainable content. Think circular economy meets style and durability.

What makes EvoHide revolutionary?

  • Made with raw materials from unconventional food industry waste and forestry byproducts
  • Backed with 100% recycled polyester from plastic water bottles
  • For every 100,000 yards produced, we divert 1.2 million PET bottles from landfills
  • Reduce oil use by approx. 51 barrels per production cycle

EvoHide is designed for markets like healthcare, automotive, and commercial spaces that want to go green without giving up on strength, style, or performance.

Building a Better Tomorrow—Today

Our ISO 14001-certified environmental management system guides every decision we make. From materials sourcing to waste reduction and renewable energy, our goal is simple: deliver high-quality, high-performing vinyls that help protect the planet and meet the demands of a forward-thinking market.

Because at Morbern, we believe sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s a responsibility.
