Morbern, the leader in marine vinyl technology, announces that its new Americana product has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious DAME award. Now in its 28th year, the DAME award is the most significant marine equipment competition in the world.

“Morbern has been an innovator in marine fabrics for decades,” said John Weaver, Morbern’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Americana is the latest in the line of products that overcome the challenges of water, wind, sun and moisture.”

Americana was a stand out in this year’s entry field of 127 products from 19 countries. DAME winners will be announced November 13, the opening day of METSTRADE 2018 in Amsterdam where Morbern Europe will be exhibiting (stand 12.224).

It is the flagship product of Morbern’s (n)deavor! outdoor custom digital print technology, allowing designers and boat manufacturers to experience limitless design possibilities and transform their imagery into eye-catching performance fabric.

The DAME Design Award performs a vital function within the marine industry, stimulating design evolution for marine products and technologies. Other factors taken into account are originality, ergonomics, and price/quality ratio.

New Products for Revolutionary Healthcare Performance

Morbern, originator of the best healthcare vinyls in use today, adds to its legendary Morcare Collection™ line with three new patterns: Abbey, Cinema and Nomad – two chic and vibrant patterns plus a solid that comes in a vast array of colors.

“When we introduced Morcare Collection™ in the 1990s, it revolutionized performance vinyl for healthcare applications,” says John Weaver, Morbern’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “At the time, there weren’t any healthcare products that looked good and actually withstood the harsh cleaners used in critical environments.” Since its introduction, more than 15 million yards of Morcare Collection™ has been sold.

The new Abbey pattern features a hand-drawn, tone-on-tone plaid pattern in 13 colorways, while Cinema sports a repeating capsule-shaped graphic in 10 colorways. Nomad is a textured solid available in 28 coordinating colorways.

Morcare Collection™ is designed to handle the highest demands of hospitals, contract interiors and institutional environments. With enhanced resistance to harsh chemicals used in these environments, it will resist the repeated actions of normal dilutions of chlorine bleaches and quaternary-ammonia-salt based cleaners without serious discoloration. Morcare Collection™ has incredible durability, maintaining its appearance even after heavy duty use, thanks to its additional thick, flexible layers that resist chemicals and wear.

Morcare Collection™ products are fabricated with anti-fungal and anti-microbial biocides to help preserve the original attributes of the vinyl. All Morcare Collection™ products are made with ortho-phthalate free formulas and feature anti-static slip finish, urine stain resistance, sulfide stain resistance and oil resistance.

Morbern Gains IMO-MED Certification

Posted on

Morbern, the leading North American designer and manufacturer of upholstery vinyl for commercial interiors, received its International Maritime Organization Marine Equipment Directive, or IMO MED, certification.

The MED sets performance and testing standards for marine equipment placed on board European Union ships. The certification is mutually recognized by both the European Union and the United States. Each certificate remains valid for five years.

“This additional quality standard achievement will open new doors for Morbern and its distribution network in Europe,” said Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, John Weaver.

Products approved by the certification include numerous Morbern marine and contract vinyls, all of which passed vigorous testing. This approval underscores the quality of Morbern’s vinyl products, developed to withstand the toughest marine environments. The MED certification’s icon, the “wheel mark” accreditation, will be included on all new product cards, indicating the company’s vinyl can be specified for large vessels and passenger ships.
